CHARISM
Our founders were St. Paul Danei and Venerable Mother Maria Magdalena Marcucci. St. Paul founded two religious orders in the mid 1700s in Italy. His contemplative lifestyle and devotions were matured through his dual studies of Carmelite and Dominican spirituality and his life of ora et labora. We follow the Rule of St. Augustine and our Holy Endeavour Constitutions.
Venerable Mother Maria Magdalena of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is compared to St. Teresa of Avila in that her mystical and common sense approach to the contemplative life inspires joy, a deep faith amid adversity and an illuminating hope no matter what diverse challenges she encountered along her journey to the heights of union with God.
She co-founded monasteries in Italy at the beginning of the 1900s then founded two more in Spain before her death in 1960. She has been declared Venerable and has an international following of devotees as her cause for beatification progresses. Our monastery was founded in 1991 in Paris by a professed religious of her second monastery in Spain. Venerable Mother Maria Magdalena has been transferred from the crypt to the monastery church as pilgrams often visit.
Our charism can be defined in less than one sentence:
-to be a Living Flame of Love through Merciful Compassion. This is our holy endeavour.
